Michelle S. Christopher, MD is a Palliative Medicine physician at the University Medical Center New Orleans (UMCNO) and an Assistant Professor with the Tulane University School of Medicine (TUSOM). She serves as the Clerkship Director for the TUSOM Palliative Medicine elective for fourth year medical students. She has been honored for her work in these roles with the UMCNO Best New Faculty Member award in 2021 and the Tulane Hospice & Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program Best Teaching Attending award in 2022. Dr. Christopher’s commitment to improving health disparities motivates her interests in medical education and clinical medicine.

Dr. Christopher graduated from the University of Washington (UW) with a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology with College Honors and the UW School of Medicine. She completed residency training at the Brigham and Women’s Internal Medicine Residency Program, in the Department of General Medicine Primary Care track. She then completed fellowship at Cook County Health Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program before moving to New Orleans. Her love of Creole food, live music, and the natural beauty of the area initially brought her to New Orleans. But the diversity of her coworkers and neighbors, the warmth of this community, and her strong and resilient patients led her to call New Orleans home.
