Masako Mayahara, PhD, RN, is an Assistant Professor of the Department of Community, Systems and Mental Health Nursing at Rush University College of Nursing. Dr. Mayahara, a clinical expert in pain management in hospice and palliative care, conducts research to improve pain and analgesic management by hospice caregivers. She is currently principal investigator on an NIH-funded trial to test the effects of a digital application (e-PainSupport) to reduce home hospice patients’ pain intensity. Dr. Mayahara is a Fellow in Palliative Care Nursing and currently serves as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association.
